Chapter 1-People of the Stone Age

Chapter Objectives-Upon completion of this chapter, the students will be able to complete the following:

1. Summarize how early people interacted to meet basic human needs.

2. Observe how increased numbers of people and the search for food led to migration.

3. Analyze how the interactions among people led to the development of separate cultures.

4. Evaluate the changes in the food supply of the early people.

5. Analyze positive and negative effects of food collection and food production.

6. Identify the plants and animals that some early societies domesticated.

Students must choose at least one assignment in each section. This chapter sheet must be turned in on Monday September 30,2002. Chapter test will be on Tuesday October 1, 2002

Section 1-"C" level assignments-Maximum of 65 points-Oral assessments-All work must be completed and placed in folder.

Section 2-"B"level assignments-Maximum 15 points-Students may only complete one of the following. These must be turned into the teacher. Students choose the method of answering.

_____1. Analyze why migration of people developed.

_____2. Differentiate between food collection and food production.

_____3. Show the causes and effects of the changes from food collection to food production.

Section 3-"A"level assignments-Maximum 20 points-Independent research in Media Center. Choose one of the following questions to research.

_____1. Relate how early people adapted to the changes in food supply with how people of

today adapt to meet their basic human needs.

_____2. Critique how controlling a food supply might help a leader keep order in society.
