Objective: Know and find the area of figures.

"A" Level Activities: Choose activities from each day for a maximum of 70 points.

Day 1:

1. Listen to the lesson on area. 5 points

2. Read pgs. 446 -447 finish problems 1-3 on pg. 447. 5 points

3. Use graph paper to draw 3 figures that can be broken into squares and rectangles. Have two other students figure out the area of the figures. 5points

4. In your math Journal describe what area is. Give examples and show how to find the area of a square and a rectangle. 5 points

Day 2:

1. Listen to the lesson on area. 5 points

2. Complete the problems on pg. 448 all. 10 points

3. Do the worksheet " AREA." 10 points

4. Using Geoboards make five shapes and find the area. Record your information  in your Math Journal.15 points

Day 3:

1. Listen to the lesson on Area. 5 points

2. Complete the problems on pg. 449 all. 10 points

3. Use cubes to make 5 polygons make sure they are covered and find the area. 10 points

4. Complete the Perimeter Problem Solving sheet. 15 points

"B" Level Activities - Choose only 1.

Day 4:

1. Make up a song using the tune from any song of your choice to explain area and how you measure it. 15 points

2. Develop a game that would help people to remember the way to find the area of a figure. 15 points

3. Make up a dance to show the meaning of area and how you would find it. 15 points

"A" Level Activities - Choose only 1.

For these activities you may work alone, with a partner or with a group.

1. Create an ABC book where area is the main theme. 15 points

2. Write a play or a story in which area is the main character. The character must represent its definition and how you find the area of a figure. Be willing to share with the class. You may use anything in the class or from home to design the props or costumes. 15 points

3. Create a comic book in which area is the main character. The character must represent its definition and how you find the area of a figure.15 points

Grading Scale

> 85 points = A > 70 points = B > 55 points = C

Anything less is unacceptable.
